I am loving the colour coral right now! I am dreaming of our upcoming beach vacation and I am seeing lots of coral and turquoise! This weekend I went to a Stella and Dot party at a friends house and bought this really cute coral beaded necklace to accessorize with while away.
While flipping through the catalogue, I saw this picture...
I know...you can't actually see anything, but I loved the braided halter neckline. I could only see a small part of it, but it inspired me and I knew I wanted it! I just happened to have some coral fabric waiting for me at home, so I went home that night and started sewing.
Here is what I came up with. I really just went by trail and error. I cut out a basic shape on butcher paper, held it up to myself to see where I wanted the top to come across my chest and went from there. I like being able to make shirts that fit the way I want!
I decided to try a 5 strand braid. Considering that I can barely braid at all that was a challenge! I think I had it down by the end though.
All in all I am happy with it. The fabric is really light weight and will be perfect for hot weather. I still need to hem it though! HA!

It's a great top! I really like the braided detail.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, I did not really follow how it goes from a braid to va-voom but it is fantastic! Great job :)
